About Lydia

A brief history

Lydia Malone has been writing since the precocious age of seven, when she discovered a love of poetry and fancy resume printer paper and put the two together. She is also one of the last of her kind to learn to type on a typewriter, a 1950 portable Royal.

A historian by training, her recent publications appear in Snakebird 2021 (Anhinga Press) and the November edition of Of Poets & Poetry (Florida State Poets Association). She’s also recently debuted a short piece of fiction entitled “Saint Lucia Lux” to a mixed audience of humans and felines at Fat Cat Books (Tallahassee).

Lydia is working on her first murder mystery, May Oak Murders, which has already won an award in the 2021 Tallahassee Writers Association Seven Hills Literary Contest. May Oak Murders is scheduled to be released in late 2022.

When she’s not dashing off lyrical prose in the twilight hours, she spends her time cross-stitching with her husband, David, and their two fur babies, Giuseppe and Cora.
